Imprinting...

By
Real Estate Agent with Phyllis Browning Company

Every since meeting Bruce Hiatt (http://activerain.com/blogs/brucehiatt) in Santa Fe at the Leaders in Luxury conference, I have been really trying to wrap my mind around this exceptional opportunity for Realtors he shared called "blogging".  I furiously took notes and asked as many questions as I could get in during his informative presentation...which I must admit I would have never attended (what is blogging, anyway?) if it had not been for having sat at his table for dinner the night before - hearing the words "blogging accounted for over 30% of my new business this year" will certainly get your attention!

Then I came home and bought a book on blogging and still, not quite knowing where to start - being the knight in shining armor he is, there is a message from Bruce in my IN box inviting me to join ActiveRain.  This was it, my answer - Bruce even follows up with an encouraging email when I tell him I've joined - WHAT A GUY!  Yet here it is a week later and I'm finally taking the plunge!  My husband just walked by and asked my what I was doing and I have never answered more honestly "I don't know".  But, I'm doing it and that's what counts right now, right Bruce?  Bruce?

Brittanca defines IMPRINTING as "in psychobiology, a form of learning in which a very young animal fixes its attention on the first object with which it has visual, auditory, or tactile experience and thereafter follows that object. In nature the object is almost invariably a parent; in experiments, other animals and inanimate objects have been used."

Bruce, you were the first object I had a visual, auditory and tactile experience with concerning blogging, and thank you for your patience as I have "followed" you.  Your encouragement is appreciated and I sincerely your hope your willingness to share your good fortune with other agents is returned ten-fold!

Hi Eric, it was an amazing educational and networking opportunity!  I met agents who have never missed a LIL event since Lori started them.  I plan on making them a habit myself- definitely and investment and not an expense.  Do you have the CLHMS designation?  It is one of the most worthwhile endeavors I have pursued and it has already opened doors!

This blogging is a new concept for my business, too. I'm glad my friend Kae invited me. I'm learning new tips and tricks by reading active rain blogs every day--and when I don't hear something new, the positive support is great to hear, too.
