I'm local to Eagle Rock...after all I grew up there! For those of you not familiar with the area, Eagle Rock is part of North East Los Angeles (speaking of which, if you want to get familiar with North East Los Angeles, you can visit NELALive.net; I'm a contributing editor there).
The picture on your right is that of the rock the community was named after. It was previously known as La Piedra Gorda (which means Fat Rock in English) and was an early tourist attraction here in Los Angeles. Even the former Director of the Southwest Museum said it's...
"the most distinctive natural landmark in the City of Los Angeles."
I know we work hard and drive to and from work in a hurry...but the next time you're on the 134 freeway headed towards Pasadena, look to your left and admire this little piece of history!
Speaking of admiration, if you're thinking of a place to eat, romantic or fun, visit Casa Bianca for some classic Italian and some pizza over on 1650 Colorado Boulevard. We've had several family outings and have fun each time! Though I have to warn you, the place is always crowded so if you're not one for waiting, CPK will have to do.
