On Saturday, December the 8th, the celebration begins at 10:45 am with Santa arriving on a fire truck. Fred, Barney, Jim, and Jake, the Oehrlein's Percheron draft horses, will be ferrying passengers through the downtown section of Brainerd and again on December 9th in Gregory Park.  They will be pulling a trolley which has a comfortable step to get in, a canvas top, and rails along the sides. The Oehrleins have been giving trolley and sleigh rides for years in the Brainerd area for many area organizations.

Children will receive goody bags from 11am to 2 pm and may have their photos taken with Santa for $1. There are many other activities for all ages going on with a drawing for a 16-pound turkey from Schaefer's Foods, voting for your favorite window display, craft making at Bear Stop, a Christmas Doll Tea at the Ivy Room, book signing and readings with authors at the CatTales store, free ring cleaning by E.L. Menk Jewelers, and tournaments at Citadel Games.

Many individuals, businesses and organizations have collaborated to make this event possible.  Be sure to make your way to Main Street Brainerd on Saturday and join us for some Old Fashioned fun!

Hi Kathleen! This sounds wonderful. I am still wondering where to take my 5 grandchildren locally that will excite them and be good for them. This sounds like a good old fashioned close knit town get together. I miss them so! Thanks, Deb

Debra - Our downtown area is really dead and this is an attempt to revitalize it.  We have malls on both sides of town and now some big box stores and strip malls in the neighboring town of Baxter.  There are some very unique shops downtown but it is not well traveled. The 4th of July is our really big get together so now we can expand our closeness to other times of the year.  Have fun with the kiddies!
