Every single day, some where, a contract is written to purchase real estate, a contract has been accepted or it has been closed. Every single day! Let me say that one more time....EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Despite all of the negative news you hear from the media that the entire housing market has gone down the toilet and is lifeless is total bologna. Real estate is local!!!! Every single market is different. Some markets are still booming and haven't slowed down much, or did slow down and picked back up and have been steadily moving along. Some markets are really slow. But I can assure you that there isn't one market anywhere, where NO real estate is selling. It just doesn't happen. People will always buy and sell real estate for many different reasons.
- They retire
- Get married
- Get divorced
- Have kids
- Need to downsize
- Need to upgrade to a larger home
- Had a death in the family
- Job relocation
- Merge households
- Want a change of climate
- Want a second home
And so on......
The reality is that despite what the media portrays, real estate is bought and sold every single day. It may not be at the volume that it was 2 or 3 years ago, but it is still selling. And while many people still continue to sit and lurk on the fences, many more real estate deals are being closed. That home you looked at last week that you loved might not be there next week when someone from out of town flies in because they are being relocated here for work and need to find a home in less than a week and they also fall in love with that same home. The only difference is, they aren't willing to wait. They make an offer and while you sit and lurk on the fence, you lose out on that home!
I can't remember where I saw this saying at, but I liked it....
"The home you looked at today and want to think about until tomorrow, might be the home that someone else looked yesterday and wants to buy today!"
If you're planning to buy a home and stay in it for many years, then what are you waiting for? The days of buying a home today and re-selling it, this time next year and making 100k profit are long gone for a while. It's going to be a while before we see those days again.
People need to get out of their heads that they can buy a home today and sell it next year and make double what they paid. Your home is not the key to financial freedom overnight. It is a LONG TERM INVESTMENT that will pay off many years down the line like it is supposed to.
