Des Moines, Iowa Real Estate Market Update: October 2007

The numbers are in for the month of October in Des Moines, and they are looking good!
The Des Moines Area Association of Realtors reports that 748 homes sold and closed this October, as compared to 825 closed sales during October 2006.
However, October 2007 pending sales posted double digit growth over 2006 numbers, seeing pending transactions rise from just 569 pending sales in October 2006 to 783 pending sales for October 2007! That is a 38% increase over last year!
Currently, homes that received offers were on the market for an average of 82 days- just two days longer than in October 2006 and down significantly from the high of 96 days the market experienced earlier this year.
The total numberof available homes in the metro area in October was 6,881 listings, which was less than October 2006 when 6,980 listings were available.
Closed sales volume for the DMAAR MLS totaled a little over $124.1 million, with an average sales price of $165,992.
