Alton, NH is a small community at the southeastern tip of Lake Winnipesaukee.  It is comprised of 63.9 square miles of land and 19.3 miles of inland water area.  It is located in Belknap County and offers four state highways, Route 140, Route 28 and 28A and Route 11.

 

Only 50 minutes from Manchester Boston Regional Airport and an hour and a half from Boston's Logan International Airport, Alton, NH is the perfect place to own a second home. It is only 21 miles away from Interstate 93 and Route 95 making it an easy commute to get away for a quick weekend visit.  Pop up for a week in the summer and spend your days lounging at the beach or hiking Mount Major to take advantage of the beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee views. Take a weekend in the fall to enjoy the gorgeous foliage that New Hampshire is so well known for.  Cruise Lake Winnipesaukee aboard the famous Mount Washington.  You will visit 4 ports of call, Alton Bay, Laconia, Center Harbor and Wolfeboro.  All four seasons offer something exciting to all who live here.

 

Downtown Alton is your typical small New Hampshire town. You will find the Town Hall, Gilman Library, banks, doctors, cemeteries, REALTORS offices, a dance studio, hair salon, Curves gym for women, and shops.

 

Alton Central School serves approximately 620 children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  ACS offers students the ability to participate in 5 sports as well as Destination Imagination, Mock Trial, Lego Competition, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Drama Club and a variety of other extracurricular activities.  Prospect Mountain High School is the home of the Timberwolves serves both Alton, NH and Barnstead, NH.
