Quit feeding into the media madness, stop posting negative things about the market!!

Industry Observer with No longer practicing real estate as of 2008.

I hear so many people complaining (including myself) that the media is portraying the real estate market so negatively.

Stop posting negative news about the housing market.  Instead, why don't you focus on ALL of the positive things that are happening in your real estate market and post about those things?  Why do we need 50 bazillion more bad posts about how slow the sales are?  Why don't you highlight how many people have actually purchased and closed on a home in the last few months instead of how many are still for sale that haven't moved?

Stop feeding into the frenzy!  If you don't have anything positive to say on your blog about your market, then do you really expect a buyer to think that now is the time they should be buying a home?  If you are negative about your own real estate market, then what does that tell other people?  STOP BEING NEGATIVE!!

So what if the number of sales are down from this time last year?  What about all the people that are buying homes right now?  Post those numbers.  Those are people that didn't buy into the frenzy and still purchased real estate!

Start being positive.  Start posting positive things and see if positive results starts to happen out of it!  Post FACTUAL positive information about your market.  Be honest of course in the information you post.  But go post something positive!  Maybe your phone is ringing more.  Maybe showings have increased on some of your listings.  Maybe you've had more buyer traffic or registration on your website, maybe sales are up in your area, maybe prices are now holding firm in your area, maybe you've had the best year ever, maybe you're showing more homes lately....whatever the good news is, POST IT!!

The change starts with you!  What are you waiting for?  Go post something positive and then come back here and link to it in your comment so we can all see what positive things are happening nationwide instead of so much negative news!

I guarantee you that you won't have to look very far to find something positive to post about!!

Here! Here!  Nicely said Becky.  The market is what it is.  The same in the 90's and the 80's when we had slow markets or out of control interest rates.  People are buying houses and houses are selling.  Just because inventory isn't flying off the shelves like a WEii doesn't mean that nothing is happening.

Nice post Becky. I agree that negative attitude gets us nowhere. However, I do believe we need to be honest with our sellers and buyers about the truth of the market. It is neither positive, nor negative when reporting the facts. The market is what it is. I, too, grow tired of everyone saying the sky is falling. Here's my positive spin...This is the best year I've ever had in terms of sales production and volume. Can't wait for 2008!

Hi Becky - oh how I wish more people would read your post and actually stop writing negative junk about the market.  There really is plenty of good stuff going on, and all of that can be written about so the world can read it.  Bring on the positive!!

Cindy, Sean and Ann....thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Only 3 comments in 24 hours?  Sheesh!  I guess there must be a lot of negative folks out there!  What a shame!

No one else has any positive posts to link to?

Becky,  I totally agree with you.  In fact, I've been wanting to post about the market, but have been waiting for the sales figures from Nov. before doing so.
