Early to Rise...

By
Real Estate Agent with Stamps Realty

As I sit here alone at work (I've been here since 6:15 this morning), I wonder how many Realtors actually come into the office this early when it's necessary.  I wanted to print up some flyers and other documents and get over to Office Depot to have them bound before getting back to the office at 8am to have the office 'gal' enter a listing into the MLS when she comes in.  I guess I could have waited - but I wanted the listing to show up on the hot sheet when everyone else comes into work.

When all is said and done, I'll have finished my day (yea, right!) about the same time most realtors are getting their first cup of coffee.

That is neat, Tori... just think --- you have the rest of the day to do house showings, CMAs, you can track your loan officers, title people and all the other professionals you do business with... you can schedule a lunch with a friend or your husband...

So much time...so many things to have fun getting done......

You workaholic you. I used to do the same thing. My goal was to have all my paperwork, listings entered and MLS research done evryday day before the office opened at 8:00. Haven't done that for a while though. Now that I work from my home I just sit in bed in the mornings on my laptop and cell and take care of business. I never make appointments before 11:00 and I try to be done for the day around 2. Except for answering the phone. It's a tough job but someone has to do it:)

You might want to look into the benefits of equipping a room at your home for an office; there are lots of benefits there.

I get stuff done at 6:15 too but I'm usually sitting at home watching the birds and squirrels in my yard out the windows of my home office.

It's also probably possible in your MLS to load your own listings.

Jim...we can load MLS listings from our homes offices here in central Florida....and Bryant...I envy you for having 11-2pm working hours.....

3 hours a day to do real estate and make greet money at the same time.... wow... you must have read,"The Millionaire Real Estate Agent"... but I think 11-2 pm is cutting a LOT of time outta yer workday.....

If you could clarify your time schedule I would be grateful....I am so envious......

Tori, I would also suggest a home office.  The great thing about this career is you can make appointments around your schedule.

I actually have a home office, which I normally use - but we have an excellent printer at work (so I can print up flyers, booklets, etc. without having to pay office depot .89 per copy).  Our office policy also is that agents don't enter their own MLS listings (it has to go through the staff) - easier way to make sure all paperwork is in the file, pictures, etc.  Personally, I would rather do it myself, but what can ya do?

Alexander, First I am very efficient. Second and most important I don't work with Buyers. The few buyers I work with are Investors that I have worked with for years and they buy sight unseen when I find something for them. I am however on the phone form 8-8 7 days a week. I never let today's business roll over to tomorrow. I answer my phone. No calls to return. All my marketing is set up a year in advance and done automaticly. I only take listings in Poinciana so I don't have to drive all over the place. I work to have a life. I don't live to work. And I'm not a money monger. I do about 10mil a year in business and I'm happy with that since I am the Broker and I have no office expenses since I work out of my house. When I got into this business 12 years ago I had a vision of how I wanted to work and I stuck to it. I made the decision to be an independant Broker and not open an office and hire associates. Admitedly it ia a little different way of doing things but I have made it work for me. And thirdly, buy rental properties it's the best thing you can do to secure your future. Hope this helps.

www.ExpressCopy.com

Great color flyers on 28# coated bond paper. You set up the flyers with one of their templates or make your own with a desktop publishing program like Microsoft Publisher and e mail them to Express Copy in Oregon.

They pay the overnight shipping and 24 hours later you have your flyers for only 39 cents each.

I just have mine shipped to the seller's house and put them in charge of keeping the brochure box full; they live there.

Thanks Jim.  Eventually, I may try that (just for convenience sakes), but right now I'm in 'cheap mode' - At 7 1/2 cents per color copy, I can't beat the office rate - and if I pony up for good paper, it looks pretty good.  I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't mind putting in early hours (even if it's in our jammies!)
