A Realtor and a Seller in a Buyer's Market

Real Estate Broker/Owner with RE/MAX 1st Advantage

Recently, so many of my agents and friends have asked me "What do you write about in your blog?" I keep telling them that I write about my experiences, my agent's experiences, my client's experiences, and anything else that may be of interest to another Realtor or a buyer/seller in today's market.

Well....let me share my latest personal experience!  I had a Realtor call to set up an appointment to show my home.  He only gave me 30 minutes notice, which I had to call back and ask for an hour because I had to go pick up my dogs and drive them around while my house was shown.  I made it home, got everything straightened out so that my home would show at its best, got the dogs in the car...then, he and his clients road by the house and called to cancel the appointment because the home was too close to the road.  Of course, being a Realtor, I completely understood...but....

This was a great reminder of a couple of things that we Realtor's sometimes forget: 1) It is hard to have an occupied home on the market, especially families with children or pets. 2) Realtor's should always provide as much pre-notification as possible to allow our sellers time to have their homes in showing condition 3) Realtor's should try to pre-qualify the buyer financially and know their needs/wants prior to setting appointments/showing homes.  In this situation, the buyer wanted to be on deep water, with a private dock, in a subdivision.  My home is not in a subdivision, so my home should not have made the 'cut' for showing for this particular buyer.

I am so happy to be able to share this personal experience in hopes that it will help improve our service to our sellers and buyers.

I can sympathize but sometimes it's the buyers that make these demands on both agents, but like you said why even put it on the list if it doesnt make the cut. Your Orlando & Lake Mary Real Estate Expert, Heather Joubran

You hit the nail on the head...

I just hate it when a Realtor calls to show an occupied home with in 30 minutes.  The seller scurries to get it ready.  Leaves and then the Realtor tells me hours later (if I call them) that it was in the wrong neighborhood or ect.

We set up the showings, get busy with other things, and then find out hours later this has happened.

Sellers call and then you have to tell them the bad news.

Good post!!!
