The group meets every Wednesday morning from 8 to 9 am at Silverton Inn & Suites. February leaders are Bonnie Lester & Hannah Lambert from Whimsy etc. Boutique. This week’s speaker is Dixon Bledsoe, Silverton Area Community Aid.

Go Foxes Basketball!
Silverton High School’s Boys’ Basketball team is hosting Marshfield High School for the playoffs this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Please note the earlier playing time.

March Forum Lunch
Friday, March 9th 11:45 to 1:00 – Chamber Forum Lunch is in the conference area above the Family Birthing Wing at Silverton Health (Hospital). Speakers for the March event will be the Marion County Commissioners - Sam Brentano, Patti Milne and Janet Carlson, with an overview of the upcoming budget year and the impacts in our community. Cost for lunch is $10 and is open to the public, however, you MUST RSVP to the Chamber at (503) 873-5615 before Wednesday, March 7th to reserve your seat.

Live Music is back for First Friday at Creekside! 
The Shamrock Trio consists of locals Eadie Anelli, Stephen Landolt & Brad Johnson kicking out some great Irish tunes using a bunch of different instruments. Reflections” and “Signs of Spring” First Friday at Lunaria Gallery
March 2, 7-9 pm Lunaria Gallery will feature the oil and pastel painting of artist Jane Castelan Buccola during the month of March. The exhibit, entitled “Reflections,” will focus on the colors and shapes created by sunlight as it dances on water and strikes physical objects in its path. Also, Boutique Romantique continues this month with “Signs of Spring”.

Lunch and Learn - Art of Business, Business of Art
Friday March 2nd 12:00-12:30 - Bring your lunch and join local artists and business people for this series of discussions focusing on art for use in business applications like logos, brochures, and promotional literature, and turning your art into a business with the effective use of websites, marketing and social media. Featured speakers include Jennifer Rosa of Earthehosting and graphic artist Elyse McGowan. Cost: $5 for SAA members/$10 for nonmembers

Galaxy of Goats show opens at the Borland Gallery!
Opening Reception Friday March 2nd 6:00-9:00, regular gallery hours Saturdays and Sundays 12:00-4:00 - Silver Creek Animal Sanctuary and the Silverton Arts Association are honored to host “A Galaxy of Goats” for the month of March, in the Borland Gallery. By featuring the real and beautiful faces of the unique creatures, SCAS cares for at their wonderful facility, they are happy to share the serene, hilarious, sacred and healing presence of these animals, to enrich our community! There will be so much to see and feel it will make you look at goats in a whole new light. All are welcome to come and support the animals and art in your own backyard! Everyone come see Jazzy & Jethro, the pygmy goats! They will be accepting visitors Friday night 6:00 ~ 8:00 and Saturday 3/3 & Sunday 3/4 in the afternoon from 1:00-3:00!

The Art of Seeing
Saturday March 3rd 10:00-12:30 - This class is designed for adults who want to get more out of their cameras and gain a real understanding of photography. You will learn the technical basics in simple, easy-to-understand terms as well as an overview of exposure and composition. The class will also delve into the art of photography, a brief history and learn the difference between snapshots and photographs. Barry Shapiro has been involved with photography for over 40 years. He has exhibited in Portland, Salem, Silverton and Springfield, Oregon, including group photography exhibits at the Silverton Art Association's Borland Gallery. Please come prepared to class with your digital camera and memory card.

Fun and Functional Handbuilding 
Saturday March 3rd 2:00-4:30 - Get your hands dirty! Jason Laney of Samhain Pottery encourages students to make anything they want in this fun workshop. The only limit is your imagination! Participants can create handbuilt cups, bowls, and plates suitable for giving, and choose from 5 different glazes to make your work food-safe, microwaveable, and dishwasher-safe.

Oil Pastels with Ann Altman 
Sunday March 4th 1:00-3:30 - For beginners and experienced artists alike, this class will be a joyous exploration in the use of color. Exercises will highlight how one can manipulate colors for maximum artistic effect. Students will use oil pastels while learning principles of color which can be applied with any medium.

Bring the kids out to the Junior Gardener’s Club at The Oregon Garden on March 10 at 10am to see 35 different insects and learn how they are each beneficial. Kids will see pollinators, predators, parasitoids and more! Then they will make their own bug box to take home. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and activities designed for children ages 5 – 10. Kids can become a member for $50 annually, and drop-in rates are admission + $5 for each child. 

46th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast
Saturday, March 17 8-10 am at the Oregon Garden Resort – The featured speaker is CH (LTC) Scott Delbridge – Chaplain, Oregon Army National Guard. Scott works full time with soldiers and families of deploying and returning soldiers from combat. There will also be music. Tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door. Tickets are on sale at Edward Jones Investments (313 N. Water St.), Citizens Bank, West Coast Bank, and Willamette Valley Bank. 

Ladies Night Out Tickets on Sale Now
Come one, come all (ladies) to “Under the Big Top” the 7th Annual Ladies Night Out extravaganza Friday, April 13, 7 – 10 pm at the Oregon Garden Pavilion. You’ll be dazzled and amazed at our circus theme with food, beverages, shopping and entertainment for your pleasure. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. A VIP Parking Pass for the lower level parking lot is available for $10. Tickets and parking passes may be purchased at the Silverton Chamber of Commerce, Willamette Valley Bank, Anytime Fitness, and Silverton Beverage. 

Brewfest Tickets are now on sale!
Buy your tickets in advance and receive a special entry line and more tasting tickets. The 8th annual Brewfest is April 27-28, at The Oregon Garden, and features 40+ breweries pouring more than 80 beers, 16 live bands including Blitzen Trapper, Ty Curtis and Jamalia, as well as locals Ben Rue and Tiffany Kuenzi. There will also be tasting lessons, fun games and great food.
