NO MONEY TO CHANGE OUT CABINETS ! YOU CAN ALWAYS PAINT

By
Home Stager with HOME STYLE AND STAGING LLC

I recently was asked to stage a home on the lake, well it became something more. The owner asked that I do a little more that staging the home, she asked what we could do to make the house "POP". The house was older and very dark. I suggested that she paint the cabinets and replace the hardware, paint the paneling in the kitchen. I hired a painter to do the work. I did some of the work, instead of buying new hinges, I sprayed them black. Actually I had forgotten about them and since this location was far from  the local Lowe's or Home Depot, I  had to  improvise, since the hinges really did not show, it came out very well. Here are  my before and after photos.BEFOREAFTER

Mary Lou ~ Wow, what a difference! Did you just prime or did you have to do something else before painting?

Kathy,

Yes we did prime the fronts of the doors. I bought new knobs and it really did look awesome, made the biggest difference in the room. I am getting ready to show my before and after on the bathrooms and hot tub area...it should be up in a couple of minutes. let me know what you think.

WOW!  The white cabinet completely lightened the whole kitchen.  With wood floors, there needs to be a balance of how much wood is shown.  Great call on your part!

I just went to see a lake home that looks just like your former kitchen, except the stove and hood are harvest gold and the fridge is new  & white. May I show them your photos?

Kathleen,  Yes ..Sure you may use the photos. I added new pulls, but on the hinges I just spray painted them for a new look. Hope that they like it and allow you to change out the cabinets for them..Good luck..

Thank you Mary Lou, I certainly hope they do. It is a matter of way too much wood and too many types of wood.

Almost makes you think that you are in a dark forest.

Thanks Mary Lou! I painted my personal bathroom cabinets and used a pure white, and wasn't too happy with it, so I will definitely use an off white now.
