A little history about the Sundance Central Railroad

  • This railroad is built in Fn3 scale which is 1:20.3 or about twice the size of a Lionel O scale train.
  • The layout is a modular design which allows us to dissemble it and ship it.  It has been to many national Narrow Gauge
  • conventions from Portland Maine to Portland Oregon and has won many of the top modeling awards in the country.
  • The layout has been an on-going collaboration of 7 guys for almost a decade.
  • The set up of the Sundance Central takes about 15 hours and take down is about 5 hours.
  • The track is aluminum and was all hand laid and hand spiked.
  • Frank Palmer, Richard Schmitt, Dave Revelia, Keith Wolfe, Dale MacKeown and Jim Hopes
  • comprise this fine group of modelers, builders and dreamers.

How can you not love model trains!  I'm sure these shows are packed on Saturdays with the kids with eyes as big as saucers.  I love these kinds of minature displays.  Brings back so many feelings of folly when you were a kid.

Toni,

This really looks like a fun event.  I am always fascinated by the artistry of works like that and especially how detaled and true to life these exhibits are. A

Hi Toni.  My son had a model train table until he went off to college -- he'd have one today if there were room in his shoebox Manhattan apartment!   Did you shoot the video?  That is really clear and nice!  It shows off the fine detail that those guys have created.  That's world class!

Howdy and evening Toni

Toni my friend
, I sure like the way you made the to add to this here mighty fine blog post, to Feature the Sundance Central Trains-Fine Scale Modeling being there in Odessa. I sure would really enjoy being able to go see the Sundance Central Railroad.

Back when I was a kid, I use to get to ride in the Caboose with my Uncle which worked for a Railroad back home in Missouri. My Uncle lived next to the Track and a Train would stop outback of him house to pick up my Uncle and take him into the Train Yard. It sure was always fun to ride in the Caboose.

Have a good one

Toni, its always amazed me the attention to detail that model railroaders perform.  My father in-law would love this as he also had a model railroad in his basement.
