Is this you? You long to live in the sunshine. You love to be near the water. You may own a boat. You may even be a little obsessed with boating. You appreciate the value of living in a private, upscale, waterfront community, but you also love to be near plenty of things to do.

If this description fits you, take a look at Bird Key.  As you cross the John Ringling Causeway from the Sarasota, Florida, mainland, Bird Key is the first barrier island you reach.  The key offers five distinct location advantages:

1)      Proximity to shopping, dining, and entertainment:  Bird Key is situated right between downtown Sarasota and St Armand’s Circle—both of which offer a delightful variety of things to see and do.  St. Armand’s is a circular, European-style shopping and dining area, complete with a central park that regularly hosts fairs and festivals. Downtown Sarasota is a great choice for professional theater, gourmet and casual dining, and nightlife.

2)      Proximity to boating:  Within the key itself is the Bird Key Yacht Club, featuring a clubhouse that offers dining and social events. The Sarasota Yacht Club, recently renovated, is also very close to the key, as is the Sarasota Bayfront Marina, just over the Ringling Bridge. Many homes within Bird Key offer private docking, either in the bay-front or along a canal.

3)      Proximity to the beach:  Lido Beach is within biking or ridiculously easy commuting distance—only about a mile away.  Enjoy nightly sunsets on the beach, followed by dinner on St. Armands Circle.

4)      Proximity to the bayfront:  Many homes on Bird Key offer fabulous views of the Sarasota bay-front, the skyline, and the picturesque Ringling Bridge.

5)      Proximity to an active lifestyle:  As you cross the Ringling Bridge to get to Bird Key, you will immediately see that fitness is a way of living here. Walkers, joggers, and cyclists cross this scenic bridge every day.  You are also likely to see fitness classes that meet in the park below the bridge, yoga classes on the beach. You’ll see cyclists riding the bridge from the bay-front marina and on to Longboat Key.
