My photo shoot is almost as bad as a visit to the dentist! Please help!

Today I have to do something that I really don't like to do. It is almost up there with going to the dentist.

It is one of those things that I am great at encouraging and helping my clients do but I am on my own when I have to do it.

I know some tips:

NO bold patterns

Long sleeves are best

Brush your hair

several outfits

color in your lips and jewelry

I know you have had it done because I see your beautiful smiles on your active rain profiles every morning.

How did you handle it? Any tips for the weary? Did it turn out to be fun?

I am going to the photographer today. He is a great guy! Professional, an expert at creating Just the right shots! I meet clients there all the time for their photo shots!!! When The camera turns to me- YIKES!

Do you love having a photo shoot? Any tips? Any kind words before I step into the lights?

Sorry-  No photo for this blog, I don't want to think about pictures! ha ha! no... yikes!

Leslie, a professional photographer will make you feel comfortable. If he/she is using digital equipment you should have an opportunity to learn in the process. Just be you and in the end you will be surprised. Now have fun!

Hi Leslie, I hear your pain, I cringe at having my picture taken too. For some reason no matter who the photographer is the pictures always come out crumby. Then when I choose the best of the bunch I hear all year from people I meet, oh you look so much better in person, nothing like your photo. Even when submitting an ad I hear  don't you have a better picture? I'll take going to the dentist over getting my picture taken any day, good luck with your shoot.

Just be yourself.  Smile naturally, from your pic here it looks like you'll have no problems :-)  PS-- I hate the dentist, too !

Certain colors do not work in a photo for such a shoot. I would wear something that compliments your looks or skin color. Google suggestions for a photo-op or look at others that seem to work in comparison to others.

I wish I had some great tip for you. After trying several professionals and hating them all, I took mine in my living room with my digital camera. Experiment a little. I took about 20 different poses, but finally selected one.

you need to stop worrying and for-get-a-boud it ! your photo is beautiful ..its have a great smile and very pretty.....Apparently this has become a phobia from were so adorable as a toddler...your parents, were so proud of you, they couldnt get enough photos of you....thus, you developed a false delusion...(just made that up).....

here's how to rid yourself of this phobia....go to the dentist , sit in the chair...about 1/2 hour into your treatment....get a photo taken at that look at those to all the will be instantly cured////

It;s all in good humor...yes, eat plenty of ice cream...and forget-about-it !

Best wishes.....

Have you tried that old "pretend everyone is naked but you" trick?  This is supposed to give you confidence which then makes you comfortable (just don't get carried away).

Good morning Leslie. I think that a good an accurate picture is essential. Don't think too much. It isn't a glamour shot, so just be yourself and take direction from the photographer. Everything is digital today so make sure you like what you are getting, and stay until you do.

Emily, that is a great idea. When I am learning, I am very comfortable. Takes my thoughts from me to photography. Thanks

Joan, You describe my picture experience perfectly. Thanks for understanding!

Michael, At least the photographer doesn't make the drill noise. LOL. thanks

Winston, Great idea! I teach which colors compliment which person for in life. Wonder if same techniques apply in photos? Thanks for the idea!

Bernadine, If I can't stand any of the ones from today. I will take my own. Doing that is fun. I think it is because no one is focusing on me? Thank you for your encouragement that it isn't the final option!

Dorie, Hummm I see, Let him worry about doing a great job. It isn't my job. Thanks

Mike, You are hilarious!!! The dentist and the photographer at one time...too much for this girl to handle :.) The ice cream I can handle. Thanks for the laughter!

I will try that Mark. If I get in trouble it is your fault. LOL. Thanks !

Sheila, Good advice! I will be me! and get what I pay for!

Thanks everyone! You all are great and supportive!

Rob, There are too many people like us who don't look like we do in our pictures. Not saying about myself, I have meet people whose pictures do not do them justice. Maybe one dimension instead of 3? It's the pictures, not us! lol
