Chicago Tribune Paints Realtors® In A Positive Light

By
Real Estate Agent with Integrity Real Estate Group

Painting Realtors in a Positive LightYesterday Woman's Day Magazine posted an article that took a swipe at Realtors® with an article that suggested agents were less than honest in their dealings with clients.  Leslie Ebersole wrote a great blog post about the article  "Woman's Day Gives Bad Real Estate Advice" and a number of agents went to the original article to let the writer know they were off base.

Fortunately today Realtors® are being painted in a better light.  The Chicago Tribune published an article entitled "Sometimes Real Estate Agents just say No."  In this case the article talks about the times when Realtors® clearly are working for the best interest of their clients and talk them out of a transaction or walk-away from a deal they don't feel is right.

This is also another case of you never know who is finding your blog.  In my pre-coffee brain I couldn't figure out when I had ever spoken to

I love this post Cindy!  I too, have written about.... not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole... if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit!  Unfortunately, there are some shysters in our business (heck, in any business) that give the rest of us a bad name.  And as we all know, bad press sells.  Fortunately, blogging provides a medium for us to highlight the positives in our industry and make them shine.  You're shining today!

I want to thank the Chicago Tribune for their article about Realtors.  It is so good to hear someone who appreciates an honest, sincere and ethical Agent.

Here's to the good publicity! Realtors® do need more of it as most I know are hard-working, honest people. Thanks for sharing, Cindy.

Cindy - First of all, I read the Women's Day article.... couldn't comment because I was so angry (will go back after I calm down). Second of all.... Love that the Chicago Tribune posted their article and especially love that you are quoted for being ethical and sincere - CONGRATS!!!   And Third.... You are so right about being careful what you post!  Folks are reading our blogs everyday (whether we know it or not), and even if it's members only... consider that there are well over 200,000 members on AR, that's a lot of eyes!

Hi Cindy.....  we never seem to get enough good press....it's always the negative that the media will dwell on especially with an agent involved....  you did the right thing by your clients and that's one good reason for your success...

Cindy- this should be another cautionary tale that you never know who's reading your blog... just because they don't comment on it doesn't mean the no one is reading these things.

Amy-I think Woman's Day might have gotten a big surprise when they posted their article.  Of course on the other side of the coin no one made a comment thanking the Chicago Tribune to writing a positive piece.

Barabara Jo-most of us do the right thing the problem is the press is all over the agents who do the wrong thing.

Way to go, Cindy. Thanks for including the link. I love it when someone actually gives us recognition for the things we do to help our clients.

A local reporter interviewed me a few months ago about a blog I'd written. She told me she'd been following me for quite sometime and thanked me for trying to educate the public about real estate. We need to take on this blogging role responsibly and know that our words have an impact.

Congratulations on your interview Tammie.  Unfortuantely we all know that bad news and sensationalism sells more papers than good news.  But we have to let the public know the majority of agents always have their clients best interests at heart.
