Helllloooooo RAINERS!!!!!

We averaged 4,728 posts per day this past week.  Almost mirroring results with the comments; an average of 4,789 comments daily.  I do have a question though, why is the commenting down from say last Summer or Fall?  We were more in the 6,000 range.  Anybody have any ideas out there?  Blog posts are up but commenting is down.

Ron Barnes had the most pageviews of the last week with You Can't Fix Stupid.  With over 200 comments he leads the week with the most commented on post as well.  Gold star for you buddy!

We're two full months into 2012 and the award for the most pageviews goes to a post that was written in 2009.  Mike Carlos continues to kill it with his Text Messaging 101 post.  With 14,006 pageview this year alone!

Tom's sentiment really hits home.  He's grateful for the AR Community so he can better serve his clients!  You all are helping members each day when you share your insightful tricks and insider tips.
Tom Susemihl "ActiveRain has been a steady foundation for communications, awareness and education for Realtor® and mortgage professionals. It has introduced me to many professionals that make my knowledge more complete so I may serve the buyer and Realtor® accuracy and consistency."

Monica Foster "...I got my first referral from another agent whose good friend's kids were interested in buying a home in my area. I gladly accepted (who wouldn't, right?!) and in 2 months, I earned myself a $6k commission with a $10k Bonus from a builder. How's that for a success story? Being a member earned me $16k in less than 9 months of being in the Rain!!"
Wow!  Monica earned a nice chunk of change from her AR presence...Get it Monica!

I'd like to leave you with a quote that's just heavy enough. Our words and actions have major impact on people that you most likely will never meet or even hear from.  You're inspiring, leading and teaching every single day on the 'Rain.

Act as if what you do makes a difference.  It does.  ~ William James

Hi Kerry, why are posts up but comments down?  Maybe Arers are getting busy again - I know I am - and have to choose between commenting or blogging.

Kerrie, thanks for an opportunity to comment on this subject.  I believe comments are down because it takes so darned long for the posts and comments to load!  Who has that kind of time and patience?

Interesting statistics.  It's good for us to know what is going on.  I'm thinking that we are so consumed with this market, working four times as hard for less money, that time may be the issue.  We have enough time to create a blog, but not create a blog and post on others blogs.

Thanks for the end quote as well!

Kerrie - we are all busier with real estate these days: you know, the real job of selling and listing houses, I think that may be one of the reasons commenting is lower.

Hi Kerrie...Great Post. I like others have less time for commenting although I try daily to do my 10.

Thanks for posting in Our Success Stories group again.

Kerrie,

I missed several days because the site was so slow, I just had to leave.

10 comments should take me 15 to 20 minutes. But, it was taking 70 minutes. I would click submit and wait 90 seconds for the site to react.

Kerrie,

That last comment took 70 seconds after I clicked submit.

I'm using Explorer. I know that Chrome is faster.

But, I don't always have control over this.

Kerrie - I bet one of the reasons "commenting" is down is that your spam filters are better so many fewer spam comments.

for me, my personal commenting is down as I've gotten so busy.

Also, it would really help if you shared clicks rather than page views.  Page views are pretty irrelevant and clicks are way more important.  Sometines they go hand in hand, but other times they don't.  Click means that someone actually saw the post/opened it.

To answer your question about commenting....I think our bloggers are writing more localism posts and they usually don't get as many comments.

Kerrie...

I have lots of ideas ... but I think that might be fodder for a full MO post.

Kerrie, you know I get lots of comments on my posts.  Still, I just checked my own stats... and I total about 27,400 comments received, but my total for comments made on the posts of others... is about 29,500.

If I get that many comments, and STILL can exceed that number with the number of comments I make on the posts of others... others might be able to do that, as well.

Giving... "works."

Also... I use Firefox, and not the latest version... so let's see how long after I hit "submit"... that it takes for my comment to go through.

Answer:  it took three seconds.

Kerrie:  I also do not know if everyone is aware that there is a certain way of actually "hitting" the "submit comment" button.

When you click on the Submit Comment button correctly, at least it works this way for me on Firefox, the phrase "Submit Comment" changes to "submitting..." and the word "submitting" is surrounded by a little dotted horizontal rectangle... both of which indicate that it is in the process of going thru.

If you make a comment, and submit it, and do not see those things happening... it is possible that you did not hit the Submit button correctly.

By the way... I just made a comment on another of the Daily Drop posts, and it took two seconds to go through.  It appears that the over-sized hamster and the large-size hamster wheel you had installed in the servers is working... at least for me.

Kerrie:

Most of my posts are localism posts about my community targeting people who live or want to buy in my community.  These posts get very few comments, but I am OK with that.  My goal with these posts is to let people know I am the expert in my community.

As to commenting, I received 2, 092 comments on my 350 posts.  On the other hand I have commented 6,160 times on other's posts.

Too much to get done in a day.  And frankly, with all the problems AR has had in the recent past it drove many people to create their own WP blogs instead of relying on AR and those sites are sucking up a lot of extra time.

Justin - Would you say your WP blog gets more or less interaction than your AR blog?

It's a good question and I've noticed that comments are down, especially on some of the featured posts, which surprises me.  Not sure why . . .

Kerrie, I had to find the post that talked about the comments down. I think Spring Break might have something to do with it as well. Lots of people are traveling with their kids or otherwise distracted by this time of year, plus real estate is very busy right now for many of us. Add to that that the site was slow and some people may have gotten out of the 'habit' of commenting daily.
