Research tells us that Videos should be a big part of our local marketing efforts. I've been an enthusiastic proponent for nearly a year. However, utilizing video was taking up copious amounts of time. And time is something few us can spare.
However, I've discovered a time saving and efficient short cut that has made video production more manageable. It's not a big secret and it's often used by the pros, from news organizations to documentary producers.
It's called B-roll. B-roll is essentially supplemental or additional footage that is inter-cut with the main shot in an interview or documentary. In my personal application, B-roll is pre-shot scenes of amenities and places within my market.
Therefore, I have them uploaded and available, at all times, in my video editing software. For example, if I'm doing a video featuring a specific neighborhood, there's often B-roll waiting at home to make the video complete. Rock and B-roll baby.
That means, I can shoot a few scenes, and if there's a nearby park or school, I know I've already got in my video library. Naturally, you have to match your seasons, but once you get your B-roll video, it becomes an incredible resource.
In addition, you can shoot various introductions to your videos and have those in,"the can." Naturally, a standard introductory and ending slide can also be utilized - thereby saving you even more precious time.
Let's rock and B-roll for more efficiency in video production.
