I left Tracy, CA and flew to Texas to watch my son play collegiate baseball.
While in the Houston Hobby airpot I saw true Texas.
First there was the cowboy.... complete with BIG hat, vest, boots, bandana in the pocket, leather studded knife holder (no knife he was through security) Rodeo belt buckle...
After the cowboy was the lady with BIG hair who draped her mink coat over the chair. I know it was mink, because on my way by I rubbed against it.
Susan... this is NOT the "true Texas." This is more of a caricature. I live in Fort Worth... and I cannot remember the last time I saw someone dressed like this. Little boy's habits die hard, I guess. Houston, by the way, is very different than Fort Worth, Dallas or Austin. Very.
I would be completely disappointed if I went to Texas and did not see this man .... or someone like him.
I wonder if each state has it's own characteristics, here it's getting to the food-line for dinner at 4pm in the afternoon.

Yep! That's us m'am!! Too bad you didn't get to tour our oil wells. You know of course that everyone in Texas has one in our backyard! And..... we ALL drive the huge Lincoln Towncars with the Longhorns mounted on the hood!! LOL!!!

My brother runs a ranch in So Cal outside of Temecula and always wears a big cowboy hat like this and his boots. He might be on a trip but it doesn't look like him though! Now the mink... hope that woman never goes to San Francisco, you know how they feel about real fur there!
Karen - Texas is ONE big State. I'm sure there are very different .... however what a stereotype.
