The Louisville Home, Garden, and Remodeling Show  occurred this weekend and Steve Dobbs was there to check it out. The show is produced by the Louisville Home Builders Association and is a showcase for home improvement possibilities. It is held inside at the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center and is an annual event held every March.

A large emphasis was placed on outdoor living this year. Landscaping displays and covers for your existing deck or patio were everywhere that you turned around.  And then you come to dream scenarios of what your back yard could look like. We saw fire feature in most of these exhibits ranging from a regular wood-burning fire pit to one using the convenience of gas.  One display stood out with a burning fire in the center of the Koi Pond.  We felt sure that this would be awesome at night since the Koi Pond was lit as well.

Thinking about energy efficiency brought us to several HVAC booths.  We were a little surprised by the number of people talking about geothermal heating and cooling as this is an expensive option.  Paralleling this were 3 booths that featured spray on foam insulation.  There are unique characteristics between open and closed cell foam insulation and received an education here.

Bathroom remodelers were here in force and one of the few things that will bring money back at resale time.  We show house after house with outdated bathrooms and have our clients turn up their nose.

We expected to see the full complement of flooring products and were not disappointed.  We saw wood floors; but we were not expecting to see granite floors made from scrap pieces of granite.  We loved the idea of recycling and turning it into a high-end flooring product.  This floor would definitely turn some heads.

Real estate agents are always urging their clients to be careful with the money spent on remodel projects and The Hollinden Team is no different.  If you have questions about remodeling and how it will affect the resale value of your home, contact The Hollinden Team and they will share their knowledge with you.
