In the morning, on the nine-minute ride to my office, I listen to Cathy and Eric on a local radio station, where it's a mix of music and talk. They run this regular bit called "Who do ya know?" where their listeners have the most famous person they know call in to the show for a brief interview... just to see which degrees of separation their audience is from the biggest celebrity they can find.
The winner wins junk prizes chips, dip and a Mexico trip.
Well, except for the chips, dip and a Mexico trip, I thought it would be fun to try the same thing here in the Rain. I'm not going to ask you to have them call (write) in, but tell us who is the most celebliscious person you know. And I mean you have to know them... not know who they are. There has to be some personal connection, that, number one, you have their phone number, and number two... if you called, they'd know who you are and would probably take your call (if they weren't busy on the set, or in the studio).
So, I'll go first. I guess the most famous person I know... would be my ex-brother-in-law Henry. For those of you who remember the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Johnny often talked about his accountants "Dewey Cheatum and Howe", and his attorney "Bombastic Bushkin"... Well, my ex-brother-in-law was that Bombastic Bushkin.
Henry and his wife (my wife's sister Judy) were tight with Johnny and Joanna Carson, and travelled extensively with them. When Johnny was seen on television sitting in the stands at Wimbeldon with his wife Joanna, it was often Henry and Judy who were seen sitting beside them.
So... go ahead, and impress us with your connections. Who do you know? It could be Demi Moore's assistant, the guy who lives next to Barack Obama's empty house in Hyde Park, or Charlie Sheen's landscaper. C'mon, tell us who ya know.
So far I'm in the lead, and you know we can't have that happen, can we? And remember, in case I wasn't clear enough. You don't win a thing but bragging rights. (unless, of course Bob or Kerrie wants to jump in and offer 500 points).
