My title explains a bit of my challenge. I have been selling real estate for twenty-six years. I can't even believe that it has been that long. With time, many changes have occured in our business. I am writing this post for participation in a contest. Here's the link if you would like to join in: http://activerain.com/blogsview/2988103/eliminating-inefficiencies-in-real-estate-a-contest
When I began my real estate career, we had to hand deliver all contracts, checks and paperwork. Delivery was to be as soon as possible and preferred timing was, immediately. I can remember driving through snowstorms to meet the listing agent and deliver the offer. Then the fax machine became popular. It saved us so much time and gas! However, when fax machines began to be used, the paper was a type of onion paper (thin paper). If you didn't copy the faxed paperwork, quickly, the writing on the paper, disappeared. It was a challenge at times. Now, I have my faxes delivered and sent, by a service that works with the faxes through my email. I use ZipFormsOnline and find it to be so convenient. Typing of the contract and being able, to instantly, have it emailed to my clients, the attorneys, the banker and/or the other agent in the transaction, is a wonderful tool. Who knew?
Next change is probably, a common one. The phone that I had for my car was in a little suitcase. It plugged into the cigarette lighter of the car. It was quite large and worked in certain areas of the towns. There were not many cell towers back then. It still came in handy when you needed to make call for a lockbox code or a quick appointment to a listing, when you were out showing with clients. It seems like there is always that one property that attracts buyers when you are driving by it. That still happens today. Only today, we have our smart phones. I had a Treo phone for four years. It was better than a cell phone, but, last spring, I purchased an I-Phone and I only wish I had made that change, years ago. The I-Phone takes videos, photos, texting, mapping, allows easy access to the internet and of course, face to face phone calls. I find it to be an amazing tool for my business.
Yes, even all these years later, I have learned to manage my day, so that, I am able to access information faster and continue serving my clients needs with much more efficiency. These three tools are the best example, for my business.
