Have you ever heard of that old saying, "Never put all of your eggs into one basket"? I'm sure you have. Well in this case, I am referring to your websites.
If you only have one website with a template company such as Point2, Advanced Access or Ala Mode just to name a few that you are solely dependent on to bring you business, you *need* to have a backup plan in place in case something were to happen to that company. The news that the C.O.O of Point2 resigned and several other VP's also resigned in the same week, has shaken up the Point2 community quite a bit and just reaffirmed that sudden changes like this in a company could easily throw a monkey wrench into your business plan if something were to happen with that company. Now I'm not saying anything bad is going to happen at Point2, I'm simply saying that to cover your own behind, you *need* to have another website in place that is already up and running and will bring you business just like your main site does in the event something should ever happen with any company your website is hosted with.
You should start by copying your main website for one. All of the pages. Copy the content so you have it in the event something does happen. Jay found a free and easy to use solution that will copy your entire website for you. I'm not sure how well it works, but it's free and it certainly can't hurt to try it.
Next, go find another solution for your website in the event your main website were to go offline, be shutdown for some unknown reason or the company were to close it's doors down.
If you're solely dependant on one website to bring you business, what would you do if one day your website was gone? Just poof...GONE! What would you do? How would you get business if that's how you currently get the majority of your business? You'd probably be screwed. Well don't let that happen to you! Have a backup plan in place!
Don't wait until tomorrow or next week, do it today!!
