This Picture's Got Legs - Wordless Wednesday

Do you watch a lot of crime television? CSI, Law & Order, The Closer, The Mentalist, NCIS? Have you ever wondered what your reaction would be if while you were out walking you came across a body?

This Picture's Got Legs copyright 2012 Mona Gersky

The Office Manager and I were out strolling near the public boat launch in Dillsboro where Scotts Creek and the Tuckasegee River merge. We had just come out from under the bridge when I spied a pair of legs…no body…just legs. I’m here to tell you that coming across body parts where there usually aren’t any is a pretty bizarre feeling. Luckily it turns out that these legs belonged to a college student taking advantage of a sun warmed rock on a beautiful day to do a little reading.

Still…it was disturbing enough for me to sincerely hope I never, ever come across a real body while out walking.

Pam, I don't know what I would have titled that photo!  I'm glad the body I found was very much alive.  the college kid and I had a laugh over it.

Thanks Laura...intellectually I knew this wasn't a dead body but all I could see were legs not moving. Freaky for sure.

You also had me going there for a while. I was getting a little nervous. The Mentalist and NCIS are favorites.

Hi Mona, This photo goes into the category of that " Once in a lifetime" collection and I am sure that once would be enough, :-). My first reaction would probably be to call 911 and then of course to be toally embarrassed that I drew the wrong conclusion of what I thought I was seeing. Great photo.

Oh, my! That would have worried me, too! So glad it wasn't a dead body or body parts you found!

Hannah, I hope the future legs will have a better tan!

Jill, I enjoy both of those shows too.

William, can you even imagine if I had called 911?  Color me embarrassed and beet red.  The young guy couldn't have been more pleasant.  I was really glad to see him move.

Jim, I'm glad you took the bait!

Lehel, thanks. it is a beautiful place.  We don't have much in the way of concrete jungles here.

Gretchen, these were body parts but thankfully they were attached in a very much living body.

I hate to think how white my legs are right now. LOL. I don't watch those shows much because I have an overactive imagination.

After reading your title, I was just relieved that it wasn't a SPIDER!  Okay, so I suppose a real dead boby might rank higher on the fear scale than a spider, but still.... that was my first thought!

Hi Pat, I hope you never read a true account on AR of me finding a dead body...that would be so creepy.

Lindsey, I think the student got concerned that a little sun in the winter could turn into a sunburn or sun poisoning...he wasn't out for long.  I'm glad he didn't fall asleep.

Sheila, wouldn't that be too awful plus the horrid smell.

Brenda, that's pretty funny...there are so many people completely unhinged by spiders.  With my fondness of macro photography, there could be a spider photo here one day.

DeeDee, I feel confident I would never get over the experience.

I don't watch CIS but I love, love, love The First 48 on A&E. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably want to do some sort of crime detection. I wouldn't enjoy seeing the bodies but the work involved in trying to solve crimes is very intriguing to me!
