I'm anxious to hear how it works, because I would be willing to replace my home landline with it, but not my cell.  In the sticks it's just to risky to limit yourself to one piece of technology.  Sometimes I can have my laptop with me all day but never have an internet signal, and the same with my cell....

I came back to check on the comments, I'm interested and this is a good point Joslyn shared.

Tygrhe - Be careful.  After reading your post, I went there and ordered one.  It arrived today.  I have had it for three hours and still cannot get it to work, and have yet to receive any assistance from them.  There are no phone numbers on the site, and the link is broken to the support site and forum.  All I can get is a chat support, and I am in that for the fourth time in the last three hours, and they transfer me to someone who never shows up.  Here is my current dialogue...

Please wait for a site operator to respond.

You are now chatting with 'Glenn'

Dale Campbell: Glenn, This is getting crazy. I have been trying to get help for at least 2 hours. Man, can you help me out? No one ever answers after you transfer me. I just wait and wait.

And I continue to wait for Richie.....

UPDATE - After about four hours and five tries, I finally got someone on the chat to help me to get it to work.  Took five minutes after I finally got them on the line.  So far, the product seems to work great.  They did not have number available in my area code, but I will make it work.

Interesting concept!  I'll have to check it out.

Tyghre, I'd like to know if this product is working for you.  I plan to purchase it but will not do that until I get feedback from you that it actually works.

I had left some info here earlier above, but this is a good product and it does work!  I had those issues upon installation, but have had no issues since, and I use it a lot!!!  It would be better if they had a number in my area code, as it throws people off when they see a different area code on their caller ID, and in that regard, they would have to call long distance to call me on that line.  But if MagicJack has a number in your area code, it will be perfect for you.  I simply use it for outgoing calls mainly.  Shoot me an email if you have any ?'s

That certainly sounds like a product worth checking out.  Keep us posted, and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Wow!  I'm not ready to give up my landline since I have a cable modem (meaning power outages = no internet connection), but this would be perfect for a fax/outgoing calls only line.  Thanks for sharing!  I'm checking the website now and will be sharing this with friends and family.

Rosemary, I've been reviewing the site and it appears that faxing appears to be hit or miss and isn't supported (But I'm still going to try it).  You might want to check their area code list as several places aren't available yet.
