Real Estate in Northeast Louisiana Is Looking Good!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Group One Realty

With all of the negative news in the mass media, I am quite often asked about the state of the Real Estate market. I tell everyone that Real Estate is a lot like politics - it's all local. Our area never experienced the dramatic price increases that other parts of our country did, usually something around 5% to 6% appreciation per year. The parts of the country that were appreciating at a 25% and up rate are the areas that are having some corrections going on now.

What is your experience??

Rusty, Welcome to Active Rain,  my experience is real estate is a local issue.  In my area the inventory is slightly higher than usual but correctly priced homes are selling.

Brian - thanks for the welcome, and the reply. Sounds like your market is not that much different from ours here in North Louisiana. Most realtors seem to get the list price pretty close. The higher $$$ listings are taking a little longer to sell, but they do still sell.

Most folks seem to think all of Louisiana is in New Orleans, but that couldn't be further from the truth. N.O. is still in a bit of a shambles after the visit from Katrina. I was down there, about 300 miles away, a short while back, and was amazed at the lack of repair in some parts of town. Of course, I was just on my way through, headed further south to go redfishing.
