How many times have I handed off the keys I got out of a SUPRA lock box to another agent coming in to show the same house I am leaving with my clients? It happened frequently, especially on a weekend afternoon.
This week another agent would not hand me the keys. She made my clients and I go outside. She then locked the keys in the keybox. It was up to me to unlock the keybox and go back in.
The reason for all of this is if she just let me stay, there would have been no record of my having been there and if there was a problem with the property later, she would potentially be responsible.
I never thought of this, but it opened my eyes.
From now on, I am not handing over keys to another agent.
