Pink Christmas Wish List

IF money were not an issue and I was building a home, I would want it located directly on the Gulf where wind power could be combined with solar to power the entire home year round! My windows would be wind/hurricane resistant and also coated to reduce interior heating, thusly saving on air conditioning!

Naturally, all appliances would be top of the line energy saving and bathroom fixtures/toilet would be water saving! The home would have reverse osmosis for the water system so there would be no need to purchase bottled water.

Xeriscaping in the yard goes without saying, since this is something I started doing well over 10 years ago!!! There are just too many water shortages and have been for a long time in Florida!!!

Rather than using electric for cooking, I would have gas in the kitchen - besides not using electricity, food cooks better on gas!!!

And all of my lighting and lighting fixtures would be the latest in energy saving!!!

Add to that a hybrid auto for showing homes to customers and we are ready to go!!!

Nothing that spectacular, but I would definitely hire the best experts out there to give me advice on what to purchase and how to make improvements!

B & BJ - it is funny you mention gas rather than electric in the kitchen. I was raised on electric and didn't want to visit any other. I had gas at the restaurant...but, I said, that is a different application than in the home. 19 years ago we purchased our home with a gas stove. I LOVE it! 8 years ago we purchased a cabin that has an electric stove...oh what a difference! I'll take the gas any day, especially if you are into canning at all! I think my mind frame about an electric stove is what many people have about reNEWables. Like the old alka-selsor commercial...try it...you'll like it!!

Great ideas! thanks for the post!

Mary - I remember that my grandmother had gas in her homes and I have always wanted it but always lived in an area where there were no lines for gas!

Katerina - I had reverse osmosis in my home when we lived in Tarpon Springs and can't wait to have it again!!!

Hi Barbara Jo,  a gas stove is on my wish list when I move.  :)   You have a good list here!  They are all very good ways to go green!

Barbara-Jo, I think we need to rethink this low flow toilet idea. I would rather have high flow (more efficient) but use grey water to flush.

I feel bad for you having to "exist" without natural gas.

Your pink wish list is a winner with me. All of it sounds good and green, never thought about gas being greener than electricity!
