RealEstate.com Real Estate Professional of the Week - Taking Submissions

By
Real Estate Technology with ActiveRain

RealEstate.com Facebook Page

ActiveRain has always been about sharing. Whether it be sharing great ideas that we have about how to market our businesses, or just sharing in each other's lives, there is a penchant for sharing that is engrained in our culture.

So now it's time to share the love.

I recently wrote about some of the differentiating factors we see for the new RealEstate.com. In addition to the five things I talk about in there, we have some really creative and smart people managing the social media and marketing campaigns for RealEstate.com. It's been a lot of fun to bounce ideas around with them to see how we can bring value to the real estate community with the launch of the new RealEstate.com and certainly as we move forward from launch.

With that in mind, we are introducing the RealEstate.com Real Estate Professional of the Week and asking our amazing community here at ActiveRain to introduce us to some of your peers who are doing cool things in their business as it relates to how they are marketing their real estate business or how they are making a difference in their community.

What is the exact criteria for being selected RealEstate.com Real Estate Professional of the Week? Glad you asked..........We want to keep it pretty wide open because there are so many real estate professionals doing really innovative and positive things around the country. Here are a couple of criteria that we came up with, but the general idea is to allow you to submit entries for just about anyone that is doing something unique and different in your market.

  • We are looking for full time professionals, so we ask that the nominee has completed (or participated in) at least 8 transactions in the last 12 months.
  • Be a proven leader in innovative marketing techniques or have a really cool story that makes you proud to have them in our industry.

The idea is that we want to share stories of real estate professionals that are making a difference or who are doing innovative things to drive results. I realize these two things could be completely different, but as I said above, we want to find great professionals and share their stories. Whether those are stories of brilliant marketing ideas that have allowed them to stand out in their market or maybe it's tales of amazing humanity that make you proud to have this person associated with our industry, we want to hear about them.

Can you nominate yourself? Only if you fit the mold of what I've been writing about. Can you nominate someone that is not a real estate agent? Yes. They just need to be in the industry.

In order to submit your nomination, head over to the RealEstate.com Facebook page and look for the app near the top of the page that says 'WIN! Go Now'. There is a short submission form there that you can fill out. Each week, as we select that week's awesome example of what it means to be a real estate professional, we will be contacting those selected in advance and asking them a few questions about their story. We will then share the winners each week on our Facebook page as well as on the RealEstate.com blog.

While you are there, we'd love if you'd 'like' the RealEstate.com Facebook page as well but that's not a requirement for submitting an outstanding real estate professional to be recognized.

May as well highlight those agents who are doing the things that get them noticed and do well in the market.  I have a few people I am thinking about nominating.

Gene,

No, it's inclusive of loan officers and others in the industry as well. When we first started we had the idea of REALTOR® of the week, which progressed to real estate agent of the week......which finally became Real Estate Professional of the Week. We did that on purpose to make sure non-agents could get involved as well.

We certainly like to share experiences and information, it’s one of the reasons we’re affiliated with Keller Williams Realty. I am sure I am missing something here but do not have the time to research this scenario. When we go to RealEstate.com there is a lot of opportunity to sign up for advertising on the site and of course that may or may not benefit those people that want to advertise on that site. The ROI is always measure after the expense has been made.

First look suggests that one has to be an advertising member of RealEstate.com to reside on the site and/or benefit from this promotion. The benefit of course if more traffic to RealEstate.com and those people that have signed up for any advertising associated with RealEstate.com website. Those people albeit friends, may also be competitors in the same market place. Now I don’t mind competition, but why would I want to promote my competitors and another company that does not bring value or revenue to my own business. We promote the reciprocal value here on AR that I heartily agree is good value to our business and business partners.

We’re paying members of AR because it provides a return on our investment of both expense and time using just that model. I am just a country boy running a small business so forgive my lack of understanding with this project. I am missing where the ROI is for our business with this project and why I would take our time and effort to promote another business and/or people that are direct competitors.

Respectfully- What am I missing?

Jeff and Jane,

One does not have to be an advertiser on RealEstate.com to benefit or be involved. RealEstate.com has a blog and a Facebook page that is building a following and the person chosen as Real Estate Professional of the Week will be featured in those locations. In some ways we hope it to be a badge of honor. I doubt that the person who wins each week is going to suddenly be thrust into the limelight and have deals fall out of the sky for them.

More likely, as an industry we will get to celebrate some of the amazing people that we have in our midst. We'll get to see some great things that others are doing in their marketing and in their philanthropy and maybe be inspired to take action in our own business or community.

If you have no desire to promote the business of another agent in your area, promote your lender. Promote your title rep. Promote your stager. Do any of them do amazing things with their marketing or in the way they give  back to the community? It doesn't have to be a competing agent.

Heck, you can even promote yourself. As I said above, you can nominate yourself if you fit the bill.

On ActiveRain, many of our members have formed deep relationships with people way outside their market. In this way, I'm sure ActiveRain members will have no problem thinking of another agent that they would like to nominate that isn't a direct competitor of theirs, yet who they would like to see get some recognition for all they do.

So I think there are a few different angles here that you may not have considered. Hopefully after reading my response someone will come to mind that you would be interested in promoting. If not, that's fine too :-)
