Craigslist Scamers - Using Google Alerts!

What are Google Alerts?

Google Alerts are emails sent to you when Google finds new results -- such as web pages, newspaper articles, or blogs -- that match your search term.

This is such a worthy tip that I just had to share it with you to help protect your own listings!

I don't know if  you have heard about the "craigslist phenomenon" of scammers putting your listings on Craigslist in a post and advertising them for rent.

Long story short, scammers have been setting up PO Boxes and advertising the place that is actually for sale as a rental.

They somehow find somone gullable enough to mail in a deposit for this place for rent, and make off with people's money.   YIKES!

A good way to keep your listings from being involved, is to put the address on Google alerts so that anytime something is posted with the address, you are alerted to it right away.  That way, ASAP, you can go on craigslist and flag it for removal.

This is a good idea to keep track of your listings.  This is a problem in our area, and sometimes the only way you know about it is if the home is still occupied and the potential renter knocks on the door!
