Does anyone know anything about digital radios?

I'm now in the market for a digital radio. Has anyone had any experience with them? Do they have thier own broadcast channels or is there only the standard AM and FM signals? Where I live (Monroe Township, Middlesex county) signals are somewhat weak on the stations I want to listen to. Of course, I have XM in the car and can hear it on the computer, but in the morning in the bathroom I want to have a small shelf radio I can tune into a station with good reception.

I'd love to hear from anyone regarding this type of radio.
