Swamp Stomp 5K For Kaye- Eatonton, Georgia.

Swamp Stomp 5K For KayeThe past two days I’ve been walking for the first time since September. A few weeks before I got married I got bronchitis and as a result lost some weight. My tailor told me I couldn’t lose any more or my dress would be too big. I took that comment and ran with it. Straight to the nearest Mexican restaurant. I haven’t looked back since. With the amazing weather it’s felt so incredible to get outside and be active again after my five month hiatus. If you’re like me then sometimes you might need a little inspiration to get up and get moving. The Swamp Stomp 5K For Kaye being held this Sunday at Gatewood Schools in Eatonton is all the inspiration you need!

Kaye Gregory Cheshire, formerly of Eatonton, who attended Gatewood Schools, passed away in July of 2006 from a brain aneurysm. Having been a stand-out athlete in her years at Gatewood, the Swamp Stomp is held in her honor to raise money for the school’s Female Athletic Program(s).

“All around she was incredible athlete,” said Cindy Gregory, Kaye’s sister-in-law and owner of On Cloud 9 in Eatonton. “She ran track, played basketball, and was good at anything she ever did. Gatewood Schools weight room is named after her.”

Sunday’s race activities include a 1 mile Fun Run starting at 2:30 p.m. and a 5K Road Race starting at 3:00. Race Day Registration is still open and is $20 per individual. A $10 “no shirt” registration is available anytime between now and Sunday. Awards will be given out in categories including Overall and Master Male/Female, Overall Gatewood Student Male/Female, Overall Gatewood Alumnus Male/Female, and Top Finishers in age groups beginning with 8 and under to 75 and over.

What an excellent localism post, Margie. Such a great way to remember a wonderful gal. I'm glad you're feeling better and out walking again. Do you have any pups to walk with? My 2 golden retrievers are always ready :)

Kim- No, no pets. Never feel as if I have the time to properly care for a dog so I haven't ever gotten one. Would love to though!

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Aren't you worried in a swamp stomp of stepping on or squashing alligators? Or is it crocodiles? I always mix up the two. I think it's alligators because that's what you eat down south, right?

Elizabeth- Ha. Gator. I've had gator before. But actually only when I went to Florida. Like everything else that's a mystery meat, it tastes like chicken. One thing I have eaten (not sure whether I'm ashamed to say this or not) that most would never think to try is rattlesnake. Again, tastes like chicken!

I love hearing about the local events across the country. Thank you Margie for sharing this fun event in your area.  I know your clients and prospects look to you for this information and you never let them down.  Bravo!
