With All the Honking . . . Can It Truly Be Wordless Wednesday?

Look closely

While driving to a townhome for sale in Beaverton on Sunday, I noticed a lot cars ahead of me stopping.  It wasn't from a red light . . . so what was it.  As I slowed down, I saw what all the honking was about:

LOOK CLOSELY at the center ------------------------->

Traffic in both directions had stopped.   No one was doing anything, so I pulled over with camera in hand.

I goosed them out of the way.

The speed limit is about 40 mph in this area . . . and this is where they were headed . . .

They made it safely across the busy intersection . . . fearless flyers . . .

I love it when you see things like this, especially when there are babies behind a mama goose.  Who wouldn't stop for them?

Hi Mike . . . everyone had stopped, and the geese were taking their sweet time.  I did pull over and goose them along ;-)

Hey Endre -- I think they're fortunate no one was in a big rush!

Hi Emily . . . they did make it safely and stopped to poise for me!!

Hey Cindy -- LOL . . . or . . . foie gras!

Hi Nancy . . . very punny, I may just do that!!

Hey Jane -- LMAO, they would have honked and kept on going.  :-)

Hi Tanja . . . thanks!

Hey Debbie -- I bet the owner was so thankful!!  I know I would be.

Hi Mel . . . I never have the camera with me, it's rare.  They would have made it without me, but it would have taken longer LOL

Hey Chris -- That was a story about that and as a young girl I loved it . . . got to Google it now.

Well I hope like heck you got a number! Didn't you say you saw a great waterfront lot with a grass hut on it! It would be perfect for your new feathered clients!

Carla, it's really fun when they have little adorable ducklings following them.

Carla, brace little ones they are! I wonder if this is a regular practice. Maybe there should be a sign - duck . goose crossing!

Carla:  that's really nice that folks stop and let the foot traffic cross the road.

I stopped traffic one day to get a big turtle out of the road.  Figured I'd pick him up by the shell, he'd head inside and I'd hurl him a safe distance.  When he turned around and tried to attack me I was the one backing up in a flash.  I tried 3 times with the same result.  I had traffic stopped for a block. Finally the little devil started chasing me.  A guy ran out of his pick up - grabbed the turtle by the tail and hurled him into the woods.  It was then I found out it was a snapping turtle.  LOL.  But I still stop if I see one.

Carla - I wish I could just walk into traffic, have it stop for me and safely make it to the other side.

They are darn lucky, Carla!  Too funny though.  We have Turkeys here that think they own the roads.  Some don't make it!

Great photos that tell a good story.  The Geese around this whole area just have an attitude of almost arrogance as they cross the street.  Not so much in Wilsonville but in Lake Oswego and Tualatin they are King.  Gotta love them.

Carla-this says a lot not just about you, but about the area and it's residents in general...last year Emily Medvec wrote a similar post about moose...or deer?-that were also in the path of destruction. SEE-people remember these things!!

Ok...but the real question is "why did the geese cross the road"? Have they learned something from chickens? lol
