Dewalt saws recalled for fire hazard
Thursday, December 21, 2006
About 44,000 Dewalt DC305 reciprocating saws are being pulled from the marketplace, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
A switch on the saw can short circuit and may cause a fire.
The company has received four reports of switches short circuiting, resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.
The recall involved the DC305 model with the date codes 200619-49 through 200640-49.
The products were sold at home and hardware stores across the U.S. from May 2006 through November 2006 in kits ranging in price from $380 and $800 US.
Consumers should stop using the saws and contact the company for a free repair.
