How Many Minutes Are You Shooting Your Videos?

Real Estate Videos

Two years ago, we had the answer to this question down pat.  Our videos were shot with 1:30 to 2:00 minutes of length in mind.  And for the most part, that’s the amount of time we still commit to our Colorado Springs Real Estate videos.

Yet, part of what shapes our market, as is consistent with most other real estate markets, has to do with the fast-acting changes that are constantly in play.

Because we have sold a few homes online with the use of video without the clients actually seeing the properties in person, Cherise has spent additional time putting and editing these videos for a variety of consumer interests.  As a result, some of our videos are between 8:00 to 14:00 minutes in length.  Please do not be critical of our choice to post longer-timed videos of certain properties.  There is some logic behind our madness.

So the answer to the question in the headline is that the amount of time our videos are shot and produced depends upon the needs of our clients.

It is a good idea to have two sets of videos...one used to entice a call to create a lead another longer one to capture every detail of a home. Use the first to advertise the second to show to a customer you are already working with.

Hi Gorden and Cherise, we try to do our video about general market information under 2 minutes or so. But if you are shooting a property for a specific buyer who is planning on purchase sight on scene, I would go longer as you have been doing since if they are interested, they are willing to watch the entire thing.

Sometimes 14 minutes on one video can save time in the long run, such as showing 10-20 different properties... g

Gordon and Cherise, I totally agree that the amount of time spent on making/producing videos depends upon the needs of clients.

Gordon,

That makes absolute sense to me...you could also have trailers of the video for those with limited attention spans...I commend you for taking note of the clients' needs.  The proof is in the pudding sale. A

Gordon & Cherise,  That's the perfect answer.  Filming for out of state clients would take a significantly longer video in order to truly capture what needs to be captured ... as though they were with you while filming.

I agree with the first comment, it's a good idea to have two videos, one short for those who don't need longer and one long, for those that perhaps have more time or have more distance from the property.

Hi Gordon and Cherise,

How are you?  It's been awhile.  I love the new photo of the two of you.  I love your post on videos.  I think you're right in regards to length of your videos really depends on your clients' needs.  I checked out your videos, too.  Looks great.  Thanks for sharing your post.  Have a great weekend!

Cheers from Lake Tahoe,

Grace Yee

Turning Houses into Homes

When I first saw your headline I was thinking of Video Blogs rather than homes.  I wonder what the optimum time is to make a Video Blog.
