This weekend March 17-18,2012 the much anticipated 33rd annual General Granbury's Birthday Celebration will be held on the historic squaore of Lake Granbury, Tx. This Birthday Celebration is celebrated each year with a birthday cake and ice cream in honor of the General. The General’s Annual Bean, Rib and Brisket Cook-off is a huge part of the celebration with contestants from the local area and visiting teams alike. Can't you just imagine spending a beautiful Saturday afternoon listening to great music, eating too many goodies and buying great offerings from all the vendors?
The event will kick off with a Granbury Road Race which is a 5K and 10K walk/run at Hewlett Park. The birthday cake will be cut for the Genera at 10:15 am on Saturday morning. Live music will be offered by various bands including the MIchelle Winters Band, the Jackie Moore Band, the Jimmy Jones Band and the Witness.
The Arts and Craft vendors offer a variety of good and gifts that will delight any any group, food vendors round out the gastric offerings, and there are many bean games for the kids, a bean eating contest, and three parades which will start on Saturday at 11am and 3:30 pm and ending with the third parade on Sunday at 2:00 pm just before the cook-off judging begins.
Lake Granbury is beautiful and completely full for water sports which usually begin around March and April for hardy souls and the beach that is so popular is waiting and ready for the sun worshipers to come and enjoy their hour in the sun.
