Business Pages: Google+ vs. Facebook

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Waikoloa Vacation Rentals

I recently completed two of my business pages on Facebook and Google+ and compared them.  I wanted to get your feedback on what you thought about the two platforms.

Simplicity to Build- Google+
While both of them were fairly straight forward to build, I found the Google+ page slightly easier to build.  The only downside I saw was that Google+ has a Video section and would not easily allow you to upload videos from YouTube, which I thought was a reasonable function giving the relationship of Google+ and YouTube.

Look and Functionality- Google+
Google+ offers a cleaner look and also is easy to interact on different levels with others.

Users- Facebook
At the end of the day, Facebook has a significant amount more of users, which to me is the most meaningful of anything.  In the year I have been using both I have had a hard time getting any interaction on Google+.  From what I have seen Google+ users are typically there for SEO purposes, to try it out, etc and do not use it on a regular basis.

Let me know your thoughts and check out our two pages.

Rob,

I think the Google+ page is more appealing. I think many of us are still trying to figure out how to best utilize G+ and it will catch on in time. You'll probably need to keep up with both.

Rob, I agree with Carla. I haven't been able to figure out Google+ even though I'm on there. I've had a FB Page for a couple of years now and know it quite well and am comfortable with it. But I still do wonder what Google+ can offer... Hmmm

Thanks! Christine

Yeah, from what I have heard Google+ is gaining ground for SEO purposes, but for networking purposes I am still having trouble with it.

Wow, the FB page looks like a home grown web page, very unprofessional.  Google+ gets my plus that's for sure.  Looks more user friendly also.  Thanks for the opportunity to look at both & test drive.

Rob:

I couldn't access your sites.  I will copy and paste them on my browser and check them out.  Facebook is relatively easy to set up.

Back again after checking out both sites. I actually like the appearance of the Google + site better than the facebook site.

Rob -- I can not get into Google+ -- interaction is weak, I can't even figure out how to build a business page and is it really necessary because NONE of my close friends are on Google+.  Your thoughts and suggested tutorials on that business page?

Hi Rob, great post.  I guess you could always include your Google + link in FB to get users to move over.

I really like Google+ however I don't get as much interaction from others as I do in Facebook.  For me it's both right now.

Hi Rob,

I have a couple FB pages myself.  I like the way they look over the Google+ page.  There seems to be some limitations on FB though as far as sharing.

Great post!

All great comments.  Yeah, I agree that social media is getting overwhelming especially since Bing now is going social.  I would doubt that anyone is going to use that unless people actually do SEO with Bing in mind.
