Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair
When choosing an area of Lake Sinclair there are many things to consider not the least of which is if you own the lot or lease it from Georgia Power Companuy. The Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair is an area of fee simple lots. You own the dirt from the road right down to the shoreline. Crooked Creek Cove on Lake Sinclair is the largest cove on the lake. The bridge, which was constructed in the 1980's, replaced the last covered bridge in Putnam County. While I miss the old bridge, which was beautiful, the new bridge allows for boats to easily pass under the bridge into Crooked Creek Cove. The roadways in this community are Crooked Creek Road, North Steel Bridge Road, Pinewood Drive, Crooked Creek Bay, Bay Court, Wood haven Drive, Quail Knoll and Woodslake. The cove itself is large enough for water skiing within the cove and offers great bass fishing. Many of the homeowners have lights on the docks and don't mind you fishing around their docks in the early evening when the lights attract the fish.
The best feature about being in Crooked Creek Cove is you are still afforded some wonderful views without being on the main channel which lies just on the other side of the bridge. That means when they are pumping water from Lake Sinclair to Lake Oconee or have opened the flood gates at Wallace Dam to let water flow back into Lake Sinclair you don't have the strong current that makes parking your boat at your dock or in your boathouse difficult at times. You also don't have the amount of boat traffic so your seawall and shoreline don't take the daily beating they can when you are are on the main channel. Those reasons alone are enough to make Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair one of the most sought after neighborhoods.
Another wonderful feature is Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair has an active Community Association. Now, joining is strictly on a volunteer basis. So if you don't want to join, you are not required to join or pay dues, but at only $5.00 annually per person it's a shame if you don't join. But you'd be missing out on some great cook-outs and meetings where community information is shared. They are very involved in the community including adopt a road programs. Every other month they host a covered dish supper at 6:30 (the next one will be April 5th). And odd numbered months they meet at 7:00 and have informational guest speakers or entertainment. You can call for more information at 706-484-1733 and speak with Jim (who is President) or Cindy (who is secretary) Spicer. Ross Harridge is VP and program director and Debbie Lane is treasurer. This organization is not a Home Owners Association, but rather an association of people in the community.
There's also a fire department within the community which helps with insurance rates. The Crooked Creek Community Association has a building (located next door to the fire department) you can rent for events. For information call 706-473-3695. Also convenient to this community is Terry's One Stop and Kwik Stop BP station. So if you run out of milk or need a new pvc elbow you don't have to make the trip into Eatonton or Milledgeville. Just around the corner are a couple of stores that between the two offer most anything you could want. Both actually serve breakfast and lunch daily. And Terry's One Stop has some of the best fresh in store baked Pizza that you ever put into your mouth.
By now, I'm sure you are wondering what homes might be available in Crooked Creek Community on Lake Sinclair aren't you? Well the selection is quite good right now.
