The Top 10 Overpaid Jobs in the U.S. - Realtors made the cut!

By

Ok, so maybe this doesn't have anything to do with Real Estate...in fact, the only Real Estate related point here is that Realtors made the cut coming in at number 6.

The following is a list compiled by recent compensation experts in a recent Market Watch Report.

"Almost no one in America would admit to being overpaid, but many of us take home bloated paychecks..." -- MarketWatch

And while you're thinking the housing market isn't doing so well...can you believe it? Realtors actually made the cut! I suppose the saying is true, 20% of the Agents do 80% of the work! So if you're wondering why your home isn't selling, maybe it's time you call a brokerage and ask for their top performing Agent; surely he/she will get your home sold!

Without further ado, here's the list: Ten Most Overpaid Jobs in the U.S. (from MarketWatch)

  1. Dollar_sign Mutual Fund Managers
  2. Washed-up Professional Athletes Holding Long-Term Contracts
  3. CEO's of Under-performing Companies
  4. Orthodontists
  5. Motivational Speakers & Ex-Politicians Venturing Into the Lecture Circuit
  6. Real Estate Agents; Particularly those Specializing in High-End Homes
  7. Skycaps at Major Airports
  8. West Coast Longshoremen
  9. Major Airline Pilots
  10. Wedding Photographers

We certainly were not overpaid last year.  This year has been about right. We've been very lucky and am grateful for it. Would be nice if we all made this list spot on this year.

cheers

Funny stuff Ricardo.  I'm in Real Estate and my husband is a West Coast Longshoreman but I certainly wouldn't consider either of us as overpaid for the amount of work we do and the hours we spend.

I certainly dont feel overpaid. My father was right. When I was a kid and needed braces, my father looked at the bill and said, "That's the career to go into!"  I don't think that I'd like looking into teenagers mouths on a daily basis.

I love real estate and wouldn't change careers for anything.  I do wish I could put an end to the bad press we get.

What a joke!  Whoever completed the survey has their head up you-know-where.

If those people had to carry my overhead and could see my balance sheet, they'd get an education.  It's the great American pastime to look down your nose at the person in another field and whine about their salary.

Ricardo, Some of the surveys make me wonder who participates in them?  Skycaps???  That seems like a strange occupation to be in this list!  I am looking forward to being overpaid in 2008 but believe me, I will earn it just like we all do!
