The 34th Art Maui Exhibition will open this Monday, March 26, 2012. This is a juried art exhibit featuring the works of local artists and includes every media you can imagine--painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, video, woodworking, and quilting.
In case you missed the Studio Maui weekends in February, this is an excellent opportunity to see what have been judged to be the best works of our local artists. In total 327 artists registered 512 works of art for the exhibition. The jury selected 144 works by 128 artists. The exhibition will be held at the Schaefer International Gallery in the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) in Wailuku. Please visit the MACC between March 26 and April 20 and enjoy the amazing artistic abilities of our local talent. Art Maui is a non-profit organization that strives to "promote, encourage, and recognize excellence in the visual arts". Along with these goals they have reinstated the High School Senior Art Scholarship Awards Program this year. Aspiring artists who are high school seniors living within the County of Maui are competing for three $2,500 awards. Award winners will be announced during this exhibition on April 14, 2012.
