What else can you do with a family that costs only a little over 7 cents a day?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

I hear the complaining already but I am just not buying it.

Minnesota is looking to raise the Fee for Fishing license.  This year, a family license will cost $26.  That is just a bit over 7 cents a day.

What else can you do for that kind of money.

Most likely your kids spend more than that texting all day.

You spend more than that on coffee.

You spend more than that on...well, just about everything you do.  Now, granted the DNR has some issue like most Government entities, BUT...look what they have to try and control.  Some 10,000 lakes that have fish and some don't.  Campgrounds, Hiking trails, Parks, water quality, invasive species including plants that can make swimming dangerous or impossible in some lakes.

I took my family to the Science Museum.  This is also a State Funded operation.  $33 later we walked through the gate and 3 hours later we left.  That was for one day. ONE DAY!!!

The public complains about the DNR and all the regulations, but I remember when It was an event when you saw a deer.  When you could catch a limit of Bass. (6) (Now I catch 15-20 and more).

I think it is time for people to really look and compare activities before they condemn any part of what we have to do.

Fishing license is a great deal and if you only fish one weekend a year, there are discounted fees also.  it is time to look at your other past times and really compare apples to apples.

That is REALLY cheap for a full family season of fun ... not to mention the fish that you get to eat!

I think it's a great deal for family fun. Do kids in your state have to have a license. If you are under 16 you don't have to have one in Colorado. We do a lot of fishing...mostly for trout. We have a few lakes around here with other, warm water species, but there aren't too many.

Wow 7cents a day to catch a fish that hasn't cost anything to put there. Sounds like they should charge 7 cents for a glass of water. LOL

Richard...It really can be a cheap form of entertainment and a meal or two to boot.

Brian...keep it simple and the kids love it.

Lindsey...it can be a lot of fun.  I usually don't even fish when the grand kids are with.  I just help them and watch teh smiles.

Debbie...Under 16 does not need a license.  It is just a great deal

Joyce...The DNR spend Millions every year to put extrra fish in lakes that get a lot of pressure.   That is why the price is such a great deal

That really is a cheap day out.  There is the cost of equiptment but that also becomes nominal when you spread it out over several outings and years.

Bill, There is always going to be someone complaining about something! We will gladly pay for the license again this year and we love to fish. Those who do not want to pay the extra amount can stay home or find something else to do!

Wanda...My feeling also.  Less people on the lake less people who find my honey holes.
