For 3 years my Moving Van did NOTHING, So I changed my marketing, and became an INSTANT CELEBRITY in 2 months!

Amazing, for 3 Years no one knew who I was with a MOVING VAN.  I had a MOVING Van with my company name and my personal name on it.   A Big logo with my entire name SOOOO Bigggggg (David Robison) across it that you could read it from an airplane.

I parked it in the same place forever and no one really noticed it.

So I changed my marketing look and feel.    I had the entire uhaul wrapped in FULL COLOR.  Used a desert for the background, threw my picture up there and had in big writing across the top UtahDave.com

Key notes:  Use a Picture, full color background, and something very easy to remember.  For me it was UtahDave.com  (The picture is a must...I was a little shy at first and didnt want it so big....my marketing team blew my picture up big and it was a good thing they did. It makes you up close and personal.)

Within 2 months everybody knew who I was..Instant Celebrity.   The city even tried ticketing me for having my Uhaul as a moving billboard.  FUNNY! They never tried doing anything the previous years!  (The city and I are in good standing now.  We have an agreement. I cant store the truck at my office. It can come and go though.)

The Result?   The community talks and talks and talks.  FREE ADVERTISING AND MORE REFERRALS.   One of my friends (who I had not seen in years) had a little boy who was about  8.  They saw my truck and his boy yelled to his Dad...Dad..its Utah Dave, I saw him in a parade.  My friend said..yes, we are going over to a Bar B Que tonite and he will be there.  His son said...No way dad...you dont know Utah Dave.  He said....yes I do, you will see him tonite.  The son said...do you think I could get his autograph.....Is he going to bring his truck?  Can I ride in it he asked his dad.   Well, how does this story go? I just sold my friends house and helped him buy another one. I didnt even have to ask him for business.....he asked me.

Thats just one story of the many.  People recognize me and come up to me and ask me about the market.  People introduce me as Utah Dave to their friends.  I get free marketing and advertising now wherever I go.  I now get referrals from people who dont even know me.  How does that work?  When someone has a friend that is selling their home and their current agent isnt selling it...they tell their friend you should call Utah Dave.  (And they dont even know men.)   Its funny, Realtors that have been in the business and that have known my father for over 20 years......call my Dad Dave now.  (His name is Brent.)  The marketing is so powerful that when people even see my dad they call him my name.  BRAND YOURSELF!

What are you doing to Brand yourself?

The picture looks great. Having the full color background vs. just text and your picture really makes the truck look bold.  Did you sell any advertising space on the truck?  Like on the back door or anything?  If so what do you get for that roughly and how is that working?

I didnt sell any advertising.  The one truck was $360 a  month and to wrap it was $1500.  Cheapest advertising I have ever done.  When I paid the truck off I bought another truck.  I put 10k down and had payments for $360 a month again.  Still CHEAPEST advertising I have ever done.   I know some other agents that have sponsors help out with the payment.  At an advertising seminar they recommended that you dont have others on the truck....they claimed it took away from having you branded.  Plus some states have legality issues with it...and of course you have to comply with RESPA.    I dont worry about getting money from sponsors.  Its working great.

Utah Dave, It looks like you've found your niche!  Congratulations.  Some guy made his fortune as "The Condo King" selling high-rise condos.  It looks like you'll be making your fortune selling Utah.  The truck looks great!  Great job of branding!

Thanks for the comments.    Steve, your van looks gorgeous.  When I look at it at a glance....all I get out of it is REMAX.   I think its remax's car.   You can really take your car to new heights if you make remax a small logo on the sides of the car....and come up with a unique picture instead of a house with your name and a good website name.  This will brand you.  Right now, people will think its Remax's car when they drive by.
