How far are you willing to go?

Maria Borsi with her blog http://activerain.com/blogsview/307751/Invite-others-BONUS-POINTS  got me thinking;  knowing,  how most people are online these days, are you willing to get to them by getting your face/profile on as many websites as possible, or are you being selective?  And as far as consumers are concerned, do they go to certain websites in their searches,  or do they type in house search and see, what comes up?  http://njmls.com/, ealtor.com,  http://newjersey.craigslist.org/  and many are obvious, but what about the ones such as

facebook.com  ?

I would be very curious to know from both realtors, where they post, and consumers, where they go to search for houses.

Vita, interesting and important question...deserves honest and integritous answer.  As a teacher and coach, my response would be, get your name and website on as many websites as possible...it's about the number of times you come up that creates a perception for the consumer.

As a teacher and coach, the important part of this is to think like the consumer; if I am looking for a new home, what will I search on?  You are in Bergen County...as a consumer, I might look at Bergen County Homes for Sale, Bergen County Realtors or become more specific as to towns such as Ramsey homes for sale or Ramsey NJ Realtors.  These are the important sites for you to show up.

Vita, I have to agree with Gail, I sign up for many websites and at least have a presence there, even if I'm not active on there.  I'm on so many and keep getting more and more invitations...I believe they do help your name come up.

Gail, Carol I agree with you also about having a presence on the internet;  the downside of it, is you also attract "kooks";  and I also wonder, how many consumers would go to My space, or Face book to search for houses...

Hi Vita,  Interesting.  My virtual assistant just approached me with a new idea she has come up with to put me on as many "social" type websites as possible to increase my visibility.  I'm actually thinking about having her go for it in the new year.  You just never know.  Big think I liked about them too is that they all had one way links to my website...another good thing.  Haven't had a problem with my Facebook or ActivieRain account, so why not?

Sue, it sounds great!  Just be careful because you will attract the whole bunch of "kooks" also:)

I think it's good. I have a myspace account for real estate, but I don't really do much with it. It's hard to keep up with it all, so I do pick and choose.
