An article in the Californian newspaper, on March 21, 2011 announced that Temecula Police would be conducting a sobriety checkpoint at locations in Temecula. *The police must publicly announce that they are conducting a sobriety checkpoint and this article gave only vague locations stating one was within the Temecula city limits and the other was in an "unincorporated", part of Riverside County "near", Temecula.
This is what the article in the Californian newspaper said: "The checkpoint will be set up from 8 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday in areas that have the greatest opportunity for deterring drunken and drugged driving, police officials said."
However, this information was incorrect as while I was driving up Rancho California Road toward the wineries, on Saturday, I did see the roadblock set up at approximately 2:00 p.m. I was not stopped as I was traveling in the opposite direction, but I did see a line of cars at least a couple of miles long as the police were stopping every car coming from the wineries.
*"According to California law regarding sobriety checkpoints, police conducting a lawful sobriety checkpoint must give advance notice of the roadblock and sobriety checkpoint to the public.
