Pinterest listened and changed their Terms Of Service.

The tems of service has been a huge issue for some people considering the use of Pinterest. It might not be everything you wanted but the changes seem to be a good start and they are open for more input.

Effective April 6th the new terms of service will be set. The modification in the TOS shows consumer pressure for modification is alive and well.

"Updated Pinterest Terms

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been working on an update to our Terms. When we first launched Pinterest, we used a standard set of Terms. We think that the updated Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy are easier to understand and better reflect the direction our company is headed in the future. We’d encourage you to read these changes in their entirety, but we thought there were a few changes worth noting:

Our original Terms stated that by posting content to Pinterest you grant Pinterest the right for us to sell your content. Selling content was never our intention and we removed this from our updated Terms.

We updated our Acceptable Use Policy and we will not allow pins that explicitly encourage self-harm or self-abuse.

We released simpler tools for anyone to report alleged copyright or trademark infringements.

Finally, we added language that will pave the way for new features such as a Pinterest API and Private Pinboards.

We think these changes are important and we encourage you to review the new documents here. These Terms will go into effect for all users on April 6, 2012.

Like everything at Pinterest, these updates are a work in progress that we will continue to improve upon. We’re working hard to make Pinterest the best place for you to find inspiration from people who share your interests. We’ve gotten a lot of help from our community as we’ve crafted these Terms.

Care must still be taken when pinning on Pinterest as to not violate copyright issues.

Follow the rules of "safe pinning" make sure the photo goes to the right link or use your own content or photos. Make sure that the author of anything you are pinning is evident and gets credit.

It really is fun and a great place to share your local events, dream homes, great values, fun ideas, colorful themes, home improvement concepts, recipes, etc. etc. and photos that you have taken.

If you have more concerns and have additional suggestions for Pinterest be sure and let them know, comment on their blog and continue to help them with modification of the Pinterest Terms of Service.

@Shannon ~ We have all been a little nervous about the downside but it is great to know they are listening and changing. I think with "safe pinning" practices it can be a great way to get more listings showing sellers what your boards are all about in the community linking to everything a buyer would want to know about an area!

Carra my friend, it sure mighty kind of you to post this here new info the Pinterest Term changes, plus links. I'll take the time to read the changes. I still have not made up my mind whether I'm going to use the site or not. Besides the new Terms, I still need to check out as to if they put their on code on to the photos that are posted on the site. A lot of sites take away the title which folks give their photos, and replace it with their own code which has their site name in it after folks post them. Just like AR does, when folks come along them, it gives them the idea that the site actually owns them and not the poster.

Carra: As you know .. I "pin". I'm trying to utilize this fun and extremely popular form of social media to my business benefit. I've increased the usage of my own photos ... something I think is a great benefit and certainly lessens my worries about copyright issues. I've found some businesses using very creative methods of marketing on Pinterest ... amazing what can be developed, isn't it?? As always, I depend on you to lead the way ... so will be following your take on this increasingly popular website and its rules, regulations, and usage ..
