"YOU CAN NOT SOLVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SAME THINKING THAT CREATED IT"

How perfect---does anyone know who said "You can not solve a problem with the same thinking that created it"?

When you examine the housing situation and the sub-prime catastrophe in particular, this must be applied....in other words, don't get caught up in the idea that we need to get back to business as usual before we change our thinking.

The government has come forward with several things to help out during this very difficult time for home owners. They may even have to do more later on as things start to wash out into the open and other segments of the financial markets are found to be in trouble because of this fiasco.

Let's just hope that the things that have been done to date do not give people a false sense of security, whereby, there is another rush in to re-finance at a "special rate" for a momentary solution. I have already started to see the ads....advertising a mortgage that will beat an "unbelievable" and "unbeatable" rate.

Go ahead---guess who said "you can not solve a problem with the same thinking that created it" I wish I had a prize to give but I don't---just praise for whomever knows who this incredible person was. (hint, hint!)

Paula, isn't that a quote by Albert Einstein?  Anyway, it's a great way to title a Post!

I always enjoy your writing.

Eric, I knew you would be the one to know that!!! Yes it is Albert....don't you just love him? He really had all the answers didn't he?

Thanks for "playing" the guessing game---can you think of one?

Paula, I was a nerdy kid in elementary school (and beyond) who idolized Albert Einstein.

He was a remarkable man who was full of guilt because of his early involvement in the Manhattan Project.

Oh Boy! That would have left a scar...although I would hope he would be able to overcome it by using his theoretical thinking. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't but his ideas were certainly out there and groundbreaking!

Paula, my favorite Einstein biography is "Einstein: The Life and Times", by Ronald W. Clark.  If you get the opportunity, it's a great read!

Good morning Eric,

I know what I will do today, among other things. I will get that book and hopefully have time to read it over the Holiday! Was Ronald Clark the famous SiFi writer? Or am I thinking of some other Clark? I don't think he ever wrote anything but SiFi.

Paula, they are two different authors.  Ronald William Clark, who wrote the Einstein biography was a British author who specialized in non-fiction works.  He wrote quite a few biographies, including those of Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin and Bertrand Russell.

The Ron Clark who writes Science Fiction books is still around, as far as I know.

If you encounter trouble finding the book, let me know.  I have a copy and I could send it to you!

Eric, I think I located one here at the bookstore; thanks for the information on the Clarks and thanks for offering to send me the Einstein biography; you are too kind.

Hi Vincent, that is one of the best quotes ever! I like to remind myself of it every now and then just because it is so applicable to so many situations. Happy 2008 to you too!
