Not really wanting to put a damper on the season, but when I am out walking the dog and look at all of the Christmas lights, I have to think about all of the electricity that is being used. Is this really necessary? We talk about the environment and saving energy and how we are ruining the planet - and then we put up as many electric lights as possible all over our homes and yards so that if they were flying by from outer space we would shine brighter than we do the rest of the year -
Call me crazy, but is this really necessary?????????? Just as Christmas has become this enormous commercial event and lost any religious meaning it may have had for most, lighting up your home to signal Martians seems to be excessive, so say the least!
I guess many of those that are environmentalists forget about it during this season - Not wanting to stir the pot - wait - yes, I DO want to do just that!!!
Ideally Christmas would be doing good for others - feeding the hungry, clothing the needy and teaching these values to our young - NOT buying the biggest, best whatever and lighting up the home so we are the Glow In The Dark Planet -
