Your Office Christmas Party

  OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTIES?

How do you feel about office Christmas Parties? I mean, really.  Is it something you look forward to attending or....is the gathering something you really would rather not attend?  Do you wait in anticipation....or do you wait until the very last minute to pull yourself off the couch to attend? Do you go ONLY because you feel you are required to go....or do you genuinely enjoy the very thought of it?

Frankly, I have never been one for office Christmas Parties.  I have personally found that I would rather be with my family, finishing up Christmas shopping or just about anything else.

Over the years I have attended dozens of company sponsored holiday events....and almost each time found it was an event for posturing and overindulgence.  Don't get me wrong....I enjoy a party....but gee whiz.....the office party just doesn't do it for me.  How about you?

Do you feel that a Christmas Party is something your company OWES you.....or would you rather the company just let you enjoy the season on your own?

Just curious.

Oh....by the way....Happy Joildays!

Dear Jim,

I think you would have enjoyed our Christmas party.  Our brokers put all of us up in one of the most luxurious hotels in Denver.  We were individually greeted with champagne on ice and a big box from Tiffany's.  Inside the box were crystal champagne flutes.  We later all met up for drinks in the hotel bar and later were taken to a five star dinner at Kevin Talyor's restaurant in the Opera House.  What was not to love?  We feel blessed to have such great brokers.

Happy Holidays!

Meredith

Jim - I attended my first Real Estate Christmas Party last year.  I t was very nice - lots of good food, a pay-as-you-go bar, a beautiful location.  They even had everyone bring an unwrapped toy for the "Toys fo Tots" organization.  It was a nice way to socialize with people you rarely see for more than a few minutes.  Like all Christmas parties, someone always has too much to drink or wears something totally inappropriate but isn't that like all my family gatherings?  Merry Christmas!

I have to admit, it is hard to get off the couch once you finally get home.  But, the Re/Max office I work at has a lot of wonderful Agents.

This year, we are going to our Brokers house, and eat a lot of food and play cards.

I can't wait.

Our broker this year decided to have the Christmas part in January.  That's  a good idea because by then we'll be looking for something to do!

I just went to my Christmas party. I had a good time. Lot's of food, dancing, and door prizes. We always have fun. We get to bring our spouse, and they also can win door prizes.

It's all in the planning. If the party planner does a great job then it should be a great party. Although, I am a recovering introvert I still don't mingle well. Since I don't know many of our agents I decided not to attend this year. Besides, I had already committed to the Christmas party for my "day job" and I thought I'd be going to my husband's party for his job (but won't be). That would have been a little to much partying for me in less than a week's time. :-)

I love Christmas parties....however, I'd rather have the company forgoe it and keep the company viable.  Too much is expected of employers nowadays.  The reality is the company has a duty to be viable to their employees.

Ours was canceled due to winter conditions. I did not miss having a party. It would be ok if we could mingle but ours is usually a sit down dinner. I would prefer a simple cocktail party where you can move around and talk to everybody.

We have a number of businesses in our complex, and we're all small.  We just get together and have a good time!
