We are so blessed that the educators in Kootenai County see the very strong benefits to offering an alternative to going to a college after high school. That alternative is Kootenai Technical Education Campus. The Kootenai Technical Education Campus in Rathdrum, Idaho, offers a two-year program for local high school students. There are eight programs ranging from automotive technology to a resort academy. Students who are admitted can work toward high school and college credits. This is where young people can learn a skill and provide a living for themselves as they investigate where they want to channel their education for a life career.
I have been talking with families that are so excited for their children that they have options and some of the families who have sophomores and freshman are already encouraging their students to sign up so they will have a spot after they graduate high school.
All this says is that we realize here in our area the advantage and opportunity that we are providing for our youth. We should all be very proud of getting KTEC up and running, and we all should participate in the opening in September. Drive by on Lancaster and Myers Rd in Rathdrum and you will be impressed at the speed in which the facility is going up.
