In 2010, Geno and our traveling buddies visited Cairo and made it to the Old Grand Bazaar (Khan el-Khalili). They are noted for selling clothing, cloth, spices, souvenirs and traditional jewelry and perfumes at reasonable prices. The experience is quite something with all the sights, sounds of music and smells. The Arabic coffee houses, restaurants and street food vendors are tightly packed throughout the market.
Our guide made sure we experienced the local fare at a lovely local restaurant on the way to the Alabaster Mosque. We couldn't leave without visiting the Alabaster Mosque or better known as The Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha! This is the most visible mosque in Cairo with its animated silhouette and twin Minarets and is situated in the Cita del of Cairo.
We are blessed to have made the trip when we did and will never forget the sights, sounds, smells and friends we made in Cairo!
