Circle C Ranch Cycling
Most people are familiar with Austin, TX as an iconic destination for cycling due to the 7 time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong’s very public presence in our city. Armstrong lives in Austin, owns a local bike shop, Mellow Johnny’s, and participates in many philanthropic events around the city. Whether you are experienced or new to the sport, Austin, TX offers many great outlets for cyclists. In particular, Circle C Ranch cycling.
Whether we’re talking about road cycling, triathalon, or cyclocross, there are cycling events to participate in all across Central Texas every week of the year. Some of our favorites are the Austin Austim Society Bike Ride on April 1, the Central Texas Tour de Cure, the Shiner Gasp, and of course we can’t leave out the Wurst Ride in Texas.
If you’re going to participate in these events, you need to be in peak form. In Southwest Austin, we are lucky to have a veloway right in our backyard which is heaven for Circle C cycling. People come from all over Austin to use the Veloway as well. The Veloway is a 3 mile paved loop which is only accessible to bikes and roller blades. That’s right: no dog walkers, joggers, or strollers allowed. Cyclist Heaven! This link shows a 10 minute video of the Veloway filmed by a Circle C cycling fan. There is even a Circle C Ranch cycling club, among many others in Austin.
The Veloway is located in Slaughter Creek Metropolitan Park (4900 La Crosse Ave Austin, TX 78739) in a quiet neighborhood of Circle C Ranch near the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. There is parking in a lot and on the street, and facilities are limited. ATX Bikes, a local Circle C Ranch cycling shop, supplies coolers of water as a courtesy each day, but beyond that you will need to bring what you need.
